I had some fun with a couple new things this week. First, I took Elaine to Prana Personal Trainings outdoor fitness class in Gibons Park Thursday night. Lots of core work, plyometrics and hill repeats. We had a lot of fun. It proved to be very challenging and nothing like I’m used to. My abs were sore for the next three days! Training wise, it was nice break up my routine and get out for something different. The class runs for six more weeks. I think we'll become regulars.
Saturday I got together with some friends and took the Navigation 201 course hosted by Backwoods Adventures. http//www.dontgetlost.ca Alex & I managed find our way through the Adventure Sport Games last month but some actual instruction on how to navigate properly can never hurt. The 201 courses was about four hours. Our instructor Nina was very helpful with lots of great orienteering stories to help support the importance of what she was teaching. By the end of the day we found all our checkpoints and didn’t get lost on the way back to the car! Hopefully I’ll get out on my own again over the next couple weeks to practice. I’m teaming up with Alex Kelly & Andrew Box November 11 for "Raid the Hammer" half marathon navigation race near Hamilton. Check it out at http://www.dontgetlost.ca/raid/hammer.htm

Welcome
Welcome to my new blog. I have wanted to get this going for a while but never seem to find the time. Thanks to some forced down time from a cold I finally got it off the ground. It is defiantly a “work in progress” and like most Canadians my grammar skills are a little murky. My intention with this is simply to give my opinion on races, training, products, whatever and so my family / friends ( if they read it ) can keep better track of what I have been doing lately.
